What to do, visit and eat in Barcelona - Spain

So heres my recomendation of what to do in Barcelona, what to visit and how to get about.

If you want to know how I walked about 45km in two days seeing all the best parts of Barcelona, formed part of a private music parade that ended in a private party, how I got asked if I wanted to buy weed like 5 times, how I stuffed my face with some really amazing food, saw some cool street dancers and how I ended working out on the beach of Barceloneta, then read the following post.

First thing I did was check the cheapest flights on www.skyscanner.com , then had a look at hotels and hostals, but they all seems over prices, so I checked www.airbnb.com and found an apartment in the area called “Gracia”. It’s a very famous area where there is a lot of pubs, youngsters, people in the street, quirky bars and restaurants. It’s like a village mixed with a university residence in one.

So I arrived in Barcelona at about 21, got to the apartment and got ready to go out for dinner.
We found a restaurant called “El 68 Gastronomic Barcelona”. http://www.el68.es/ From the outside it seemed like the people inside were having a good time, the place had a good enough atmosphere, so we went in. The place sits about 40 people max, including the bar area. The people working there are dressed casual and there’s about three people in the kitchen, which forms part of the bar itself.

We orders “coca de sobrassada i aubercoc”, “mil fulls de verdures” and a few other things. The most spectacular was the “Mil fulls de verdures” which is various vegetables sliced and cooks on top of each other with drizzled cheese. So tasty!

I loved seeing all the "Estelades" flags on peoples balconys. Shows they are serious about there cause.

The following day we got up ready to get a feel of Barcelona. We went to the Plaça de la Vila de Gracia for a breakfast. A bit over priced just cus it was on the terrace, I won’t be going there again.

We got a bus ticket for 9,90 10 journeys. Well worth it. We went to the Parc Guell. http://www.parkguell.cat/ We booked online on the way there, 7eur each. A bit pricey, but I think most things are in Barcelona at the end of the day. They parc was a great visit, just a bit small. I was expending more. The gardens are nice, great architecture.

After that we got the 24 bus that runs about every 10 minutes to plaça Catalunya. From there we went to the Ramblas. Sooo many people everywhere. The shops in the center are all a bit the same, Springfield, pull & Bear, Zara…. The place didn’t have much character until we started to take a few backstreets were there were some small brand businesses and cool bars.

We found a bar/restaurant called Fa Patxoca. They serve a good variety of food. We went for the Chicken Wrap, the Falafel with cheese, the Babaganoush. Super tasty!

After that, on our way to the Arc de Triomf, we came across some street dancers. They did a really good job attracting the public.

At the Arc de triomf we found a bar called the Anduriña, near the Plaça de Ciutadella. There we just had a drink, but I would highly recommend their Tortilla de patata (Spanish omelet) as it was huge!

After walking all day, we went to the apartment to rest before going out in the night for dinner and drinks.
We went to a Syrian restaurant called Ugarit. http://restaurantesirio.es/ It’s in a street in Gracia Barcelona with lots of ethnic restaurants and shops.

Whilst in the restaurant, we heard a lot of commotion outside… music playing, a large number of people walking all in one direction. We had just happened to pay the bill, so we made a move and joined in with the crowd…. Not knowing who they were, and what they were celebrating, we decided to follow them to a house on a second floor. They happened to be a Valencian association celebrating the Mors and Cristians…. It was the first time they organize this party and we just happen to be part of it.

The next day I made my way to The Sagrada familia. Unfortunately the building still is being built, but I could still get a good look at it.

Then I walked down to Barceloneta, walked through the parc de Ciutadella, The Olimpic port and walked along the coast line. Loads of people jogging, walking their dogs, really great sunny day too!

After that, I walked up through the Gothic center, up the ramblas, and had lunch in a pizzeria that makes the pizza from scratch in the moment you order it. Horiginal https://www.facebook.com/horiginalbar/?fref=ts

Went and sat in the Plaça de Catalunya with all the pigeons and then took the Aerobus to the airport. It leaved every 5 minutes.
